Good case March 14, 2010 R. Mahadevan I got the black one. It fits snuggly and protects the iphone well. Well, most of you have already read multiple positive reviews about this product. I don't wanna repeat them because I second all of them.
The major issue (at least for me) is removing the iphone from my jeans pocket. Due to the rubber nature of the case it is sometimes difficult to remove from the pocket and also an issue w/ the collection of lint/dust on the case. The latter is not a biggie for me as long as it protects the iphone and takes all the beating/dust. However, I have to put this out so that folks who are planning to buy this case is aware of this lint magnet issue.
With Speck Pixel Skin, I Never Drop My iPhone March 11, 2010 J. Zee (San Francisco, CA USA) I needed a protective cover for my iPhone because I was always dropping it, and wanted to cushion its fall. The iPhone was sliding out of pockets, getting knocked off tables, slipping out of my bag. Once my iPhone sported a Pixel Skin, it was never dropped again because the Skin gave me and my pockets a reliable grip on it. And I'm sure if I did drop it, the chunky rubber would do a great job of protecting it.
The Speck Pixel Skin fits snuggly, and is easy to put on or take off the iPhone. It does not turn pockets inside out. It does add bulk, but that doesn't bother me. Some of the buttons are covered, like the main ON button on the front and the volume controls, but it is designed so that the button easily activates when you press on that spot. Other parts are left uncovered, like the ringer on/off button, headset connection hole, all the stuff at the bottom of the iphone (charger connection) and of course, the camera opening. No blockage of camera view.
I got a Blueberry Blue Pixel Skin, and the color is true to that which you see in the item pic. The rubber and its grenade-like texture reminds me of some bike handles: tough, shock absorbent and grippy. Perhaps because of this I feel like this product is a bit sporty/ ourdoorsy.
does the job well March 9, 2010 Laaysiah of course i do not like the style of this case however, i haven't dropped my iPhone at all since purchasing this. obviously, it does the job.
Review March 8, 2010 Sarah I think the product works well.
It's light-weight and easy to remove and insert the phone into the product.
Those wishing to purchase the product should think about "color". The darker the color of the product, the more likely it will collect lint.
Important design flaw March 6, 2010 Rob (New York City) I've been a big fan of Speck ipod/iphone covers for several years. I got this one because I liked the rugged look & feel of the cover.
I also listen to a lot of music off my iphone, including using it to plug into computer speakers at the office (or at home).
The problem is that, due to the inherent thickness of the cover's rubber/plastic, the hole on the upper edge that is designed to accept a speaker wire prong, simply doesn't work. For earbuds, the prong is thinner, so it works. Not so for standard computer speaker wire prongs. You can try plugging in a speaker wire prong, but due to the thickness of the rubber/plastic cover, the prong won't introduce all the way into the iphone and "settle" with a click. As a result, the prong is dangling only partially within the hole, creating a lot of harsh static sound over the speakers; and it is prone to fall out completely with movement or handling of the iphone.
The only way around it is to peel back the cover over the upper outer edge, exposing the bare iphone casing, and then plug in the speaker wire prong directly. Not an elegant solution.
I listen to a lot of music from my iPhone through computer speakers. As a result, due to this design flaw, I have unfortunately decided to return the product.
