4 out of 5 stars Better improvements but a new flaw   August 31, 2010
Steve Nguyen

Bought the original Body Glove case with the Droid on Verizon's release day back in November 2009. The case was strong, sturdy, and came with the belt clip. About a month after use, I noticed the tabs were scraping the back of the screen as you slide out the keyboard. This destroyed the plastic skin on the Droid. About 5 months after use, the rubber skin started peeling. I was able to sand down the tabs and extended the life by a few months. After 9 months, it was time to replace.

Got this new generation Body Glove case on August 23, 2010. I noticed it looked the same, except this time, they fixed the bad tabs and they've added a slimmer belt clip with a kickstand. But now they fubarred the clip release, it's now on the bottom of the clip instead of the top. So now it requires a two step move to release the phone: 1) push the button, 2) pull phone out.

Other than that, I'm satisfied with the case but just a little annoyed that Body Glove fixed some problems but added a new one. Oh well, can't wait to get the new Verizon Droid!

1 out of 5 stars Only Lasted 1 Month   August 18, 2010

I purchased this case with my phone in the July. Yesterday I went to slide my phone open and the bottom of the cover fell off. The clasps broke on one side. I also noticed when I tried to get it back on that it made the plastic on my Droid pop up out of place. It seems very ill fitted to this phone. I do not recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Motorola Droid Body Glove Review   August 15, 2010

I must say, I absolutely love this product! It has really brought character to my Droid. Besides its texture look and feel, it really does protect the phone from accident falls. It came with an attachment to be clipped to your pocket but I found it wasn't practical for me. What's great is it also comes with a filler incase you want to remove the attachment for a sleeker look. Overall I've really enjoyed the Body Glove and the complements I've received with it. Thank You

1 out of 5 stars Solid... while it lasts the couple of months you own it.   August 14, 2010

I have gone through two of these. It's a solid fitting case that can withstand significant drops and the case cover causes the screen to be recessed so a drop onto a smooth surface (tile, etc) will not damage the screen. HOWEVER, the snap on cover of the screen is a flimsy, thin plastic form with a rubberized overlay that tends to crack in multiple places with daily use after a couple of months. Once the frame cracks, it will fall off as the tabs will not hold it onto the phone due to flexing (the rubberized coating is the only thing holding it together at this point). My first set cracked and fell off and I initially thought this was a fluke until my second set did the same. The rear cover, on the other hand, is quite solid as mentioned in prior evaluations. It actually can be difficult to remove and protects the rear beautifully. It does add significant thickness to the phone but that's a trade off for effective armor. I did enjoy this when it did work but due to the low life span of the front cover I cannot recommend this to anyone else after, again, going through two sets. They are not cheap in price either. Quite disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Best Case on Market, Saved it from drowning, yet Fundamental Design Flaw   July 31, 2010
A. J. Weaver (Tampa, FL)
This case has a belt clip, has saved my droid from many drops and scratches, but unfortunately there is a design flaw in it. Yes it is bulky and make the phone about double its weight, but this guy will protect your investment in a fall down the stairs provided the phone stays attached to the case. Which where in lies the problem. If you have to constantly remove your Droid to access the SD card or because your Droid has froze for some reason (perhaps downloading some unstable application) you have to remove the droid from the case. Well, the case uses these thin little plastic "teeth" that hold the case to your droid. After removing the case and putting the droid back all of maybe between 5-10 times, the little teeth will snap off or just chip away a little each time. This causes the case to no longer hold your Droid after maybe six months...? In my experience, I have to replace the case every six months. At $13 on the AMZN website, I can deal with it because 1.) its very professional looking with the belt clip feature - I am a Sr IT personnel for a fortune 100 company and I like the look that accompanies this phone when I am wearing business dress/business casual 2.) it does its job - many drops in the parking lot while multitasking and talking on the phone 3.) it has a nice look to it with the rubberized skin.

One more KEY POINT: There was even a time where I took the Christmas tree out after Christmas, and the tree branch knocked the clip off my pants (I didnt have it clipped to a belt). I didnt realize it fell off, and my sprinklers kicked in that night. I went to recharge my phone and couldnt find it 4 hours later, and low and behold, it was in the middle of the lawn completely wet. The cover saved it, and it was still on. (I since then downloaded the "Wheres my Droid" app that will ring your droid as loud as possible if you text message it with a special password that you setup). I immediately turned the phone off, took the case apart, the cover off and the battery out and used the blow dryer on it, then let it sit over night before trying to turn it on again. It worked just fine!

SUMMARY: If you do'nt mind a case with a six month shelf-live. This is the case for you. I believe its the best case on the market - and by not paying the full $25 retail at BestBuy and buying it from Amazon at $13/case, $52 (4 cases over two years) is a lot less expensive than the insurance. I dont mind shelling out the extra money, so I took of star for the design flaw. If the teeth were slightly more flexible and there were more of them, the design flaw would be fixed.
