Volume August 16, 2010 Lovgren I liked this clock radio except for one major thing and that was the volume. I use the alarm clock snooze feature at night and the difference between volume settings is so large that either I can't hear it or can't sleep.
Sony Dream machine August 7, 2010 Dana J. Sherman (Iowa) Love it. Has dual alarms. Sound quality is pretty good. Small enough to take when traveling, which is good. Would recommend to anyone.
Good tunes on the deck August 7, 2010 Average Joe (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
New deck, new deck furniture, new barbecue, good weather. So, how about some tunes? Looked at many types and brands of audio entertainment units incorporating an ability to use I-Pod. Sony has always been good for me. No exception here. Love the remote. Sound is very good for speakers of this size. Unit is just right to place on the deck for small or larger gatherings. NOT BLARING sound. Radio reception quite good although I do not use the unit for radio very much. I keep it in the kitchen when not in use outside. Had the windows cleaned the other day and two of the workers commented on the unit as "cool" and with great sound. I thought the price for the unit was very fair and I am happy. I had no problem setting it up for my preferences.
Some really good features, but two fatal flaws August 6, 2010 Matthew Lakin (Concord, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product has some very nice features, but I had to return it, because of a couple of fatal flaws (one of which is mentioned in the other reviews).
Pros: Great sound quality, nice looks, dual alarm
Neutral: Plenty of features, but clunky to set
Deal-Breakers: (1) The lowest visible clock setting is way too bright to sleep at night. (2) The iPod alarm fails about half of the time -- and I can't figure out why -- causing me to be late for work three times in the last week!
I love this product, but clearly it's not designed to work with the iPhone 4 (or maybe others are having the same problem with the older iPhones?). The maddening part is that I got the iPod alarm setting to work sometimes, just not other times. But an alarm clock that can't be relied on is not something I can live with.
As for the screen brightness, others mentioned that if you are sensitive to too much light at night, the clock is not usable. Unfortunately, I agree. I found myself blocking the clock at night, or completely turning off the display. I wanted to love this clock radio, but it just didn't work for me.
Defective Product - should be recalled August 4, 2010 Peter M Watt-Morse 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this clock radio; it failed; I returned it; the replacement failed in the same manner; I corrected it with Sony tech support and it failed again - the product is defective and needs to be recalled -
Details: the iPod and the radio sound work fine when it was initially turned on - however, if you use the alarm function, the sound completely shuts down so the unit can not be used - besides missing my alarm and a meeting the first time it happened, it was very frustrating because there was no was to get sound to come out of the machine pushing any button - I returned the unit and was given a new unit by the retailer - after working as a radio when it was turned on, the next morning the alarm failed again and the sound was again completely gone from the unit - this time I called Sony tech support and was told there is a reset button hidden under the batteries (this is not in the Sony documentation) - when I hit the button, the sound returned - unfortunately, the alarm did not go off the next morning and the sound was again completely gone - I tried the reset one more time, experienced another failed alarm with a soundless unit and finally gave up and returned the second unit
At this point, Sony needs to remove the model from the market until it actually works as an alarm clock
