I love you JLab!!! March 19, 2010 Noah Fence (the moon & antarctica) How to get the best portable sound quality in three easy steps:
1. Select the "small speakers" equalizer preset on your iPod.
2. Plug in your JBuds.
3. Enjoy!
Sound: 4/5
Until I discovered JBuds, I had always switched between using my Apple earbuds when I needed portability, and my Sennheiser HD280 circumaural headphones when I wanted sound quality. Suffice it to say, it's a choice I no longer have to make. While my circumaural headphones still sound the best to me, the sound quality of the JBuds borders on miraculous considering they are earbuds, and I no longer feel it necessary to lug around circumaural headphones if I'm going to be on a plane/train/automobile for any length of time. Their dynamic range is excellent; I can listen to drum and bass without the low frequencies being completely inaudible like with most earbuds, and the treble is clear and bright without sounding hissy or metallic. They sound twice as good (no exaggeration) when I select the "small speaker" equalizer preset on my iPod.
Comfort: 5/5
I have always found the Apple earbuds to be very uncomfortable, since my ear canals are different sizes. I absolutely love that I was able to change the size of the JBuds individually. They fit perfectly and I can't imagine more comfortable earbuds!
Portability: 4/5
I'm afraid the rubber cup might come off if I just stick the headphones in my pocket or backpack. Luckily they come with an awesome little case to keep them in. The case is a bit too bulky to carry around in a pocket, but it takes up hardly any room in a bag.
Verdict:
These earbuds are almost perfect. My only gripe: the only way to tell left from right is a small raised "L" on the stem of the left earbud, which is impossible to see in anything but the best lighting. This would probably drive me completely insane if I weren't able to differentiate based on the fact I use different size buds for each ear.
Too much treble!!! March 18, 2010 D. Gu (San Diego, CA) This is the worst ear piece I have ever owned. The treble is extremely overwhelming and pronounce, like some kind of metal scratching constantly in your ear and you have no way of getting away. You feel all the different frequencies of the mucsic are never synthetic; instead, you hear some over-powered high notes, some low notes and some notes in the middle but NOTHING between them. I absolutely hate it!!!!!I thought about returning it, but I lost the original package. Well, a bitter lesson learned. I will never buy anything from this manufacturer ever again!
I love these buds! March 18, 2010 J. Richards (Michigan, United States) These buds are exceptional. I ordered this one and a set of J2 buds since I had heard different folks liked the different buds. The J2 buds are awesome, the J3s beat them out. The clarity and overall range seems better represented. The J2 buds seem a little heavier on the bass output which is nice, but I don't want the bass to overwhelm everything else.
You plug the buds (either J2 or J3) into your ears and you all of a sudden feel isolated from the room. I could hear my own breathing and my heartbeat. Then the music kicks in and you just start smiling.
I wear these while riding the bike at the gym and unlike all of the other buds I use, they don't pop out no matter how hard and fast I am peddling.
Absolutely awesome.
Pretty good... March 17, 2010 J. Gordon (San Diego, CA) Good, clear sound. Very weak bass. The little case is nice, as are the replaceable ear sizer-thingies.
Fantastic value per decibel J3's sound clearer Ron rivchin March 16, 2010 Ron Rivchin (Florida) I bought these when they cost over $60. If you can get them for under $30 they are a great value. I have seen photos of different color buds as accessories, however, I don't know where to buy them over the counter. I lost my J2's on a studio in Chicago and now I use the J3's. Significant sound improvement. I also like Sony Mdr-Ex75/Slv Ex Earbuds Headphones with 9mm Hi-Sensitivity Driver (Silver)
and my favorite JBL Reference 220 Headphone (Black)
